The faithful of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were invited on Saturday December 28, 2024 in the commune of Ngaliema, in Kinshasa, (west) to enlighten the world through their daily actions to promote friendship and harmony, during a musical evening.
“The main objective of this musical evening whose main theme is “More Enlightened the world”: let them see your works is to commemorate the goodness of God towards men and celebrate acts of goodness between individuals, recognizing the importance of promoting harmony andfriendship among God’s children and also provides a unique opportunity for reflection and rejoicing, said Elder Jean-Pierre Haboko, Central Africa Area Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (EJCSDJ) in his addressopening of the cultural evening organized at the Center de Pieu de Kinshasa.
He said that this event is an initiative inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ, promoted by the EJDSJ aimed at encouraging everyone to shine their light through good works particularly during this Christmas season.
“All the quantums auditioned in this place helped us return to our homes with the spirit of illuminating the world and above all we cannot just wait for the month of December to clothe ourselves in this spirit,” he continued.
For him, this last month of the ending year must constitute, for those who have not done so, from January until today, a period of catching up. Reason why he recommended everyone to look around them to perform an act of kindness to a loved one, a member of the family, the church, a neighbor or a stranger so that they in turn can benefit of his goodness and see his life touched in some way.
Elder Haboko invited, on this occasion, the faithful of the EJCSDJ to prepare already from January 2025 to enlighten the world with all goodness so that in December of next year, they will have to fulfill this divine recommendation in order to to be able to make efforts succeed in terms ofconcern this theme whose importance cannot be demonstrated.
ET, A moment of sharing experiences of different actors
Another highlight of this evening was the sharing of experiences on concrete examples of Lighting the World through acts of kindness and their impact on the community.
Panelists including religious, political, philanthropic and cultural actors urged participants to further integrate good actions into their daily lives in accordance with divine recommendations through the sharing of their experiences and their reflections on the place ofkindness and good works in society.
For Sheik Abdala Mangala of the Islamic religion, man must present himself correctly in everything and it is God who has given him the sense of discerning good and evil in order to be appreciated by those around him according to a certain line of course of action to follow.
In her turn, Ms. Liliane Temuni, ambassador of the Red Cross, recommended to all the faithful to be a true light of the world for all those who need it and especially the most deprived sick children because a well-cared-for child is a healthy adult.
To close the panel, the artist-musician Jean Goubal insisted that we cannot give light to others without having it within ourselves and if we want to see the change in others, we must be the bearers of it. here.
