DRC Kinshasa: National Assembly: Vital President Kamerhe informed of the activities that parliamentary women plan to organize to close the month of March

A few days before the end of March, months dedicated to women, the president of the National Assembly, Professor Vital Kamerhe, had the honor of receiving a delegation of parliamentary women on Friday March 21.

Composed of the Honorable Percy Nzuzi, the Honorable Riziki Maneno, the Honorable Daida Moleka as well as the Honorable Antoine Ntabala, this delegation of parliamentary women had made known to the speaker of the lower room of the Parliament their initiatives in favor of women’s rightsin the National Assembly.

They presented to the number one of the National Assembly the various activities they plan to organize to finish in style this month of women. And at the same time expressed their desire to assert themselves more in parliamentary debates and to have a more active role in making decisions.

These elected officials also requested the support of the President of the National Assembly to allow them to have close collaboration with the Ministry of the Gender, in order to promote the empowerment of women and guarantee their effective representation in governance.

The president of the National Assembly, Vital Kamerhe, welcomed this approach and encouraged parliamentary women to continue their commitment with determination.

The promotion of women should not be a simple slogan, but a concrete reality in our way of working. I encourage you to continue this momentum and collaborate with your male colleagues to advance the major reforms our country needs, “he said.

Professor Vital Kamerhe also recalled that the political emancipation of women is a major issue for the democracy and development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
